In quintessentially English surroundings, what could be more fitting than afternoon tea? At the George it’s a suitably indulgent affair. Classic finger sandwiches and exquisite sweet treats accompany the finest loose-leaf teas, an irresistible combination whether in the wicker chairs of the conservatory, the easy-going elegance of the restaurant, or outside in the sunshine of the gardens.
Enjoy our fabulous not so traditional Afternoon Tea – freshly baked scones, homemade cakes and finger sandwiches, Tea & Coffee with an extra refreshing Gin & Tonic twist! Choose from over 10 different variations from our Brand-New Premium Gin Club Menu.
Here at The George, we like to take Bed and Breakfast literally. Request for either our Full English or Continental breakfast to be delivered to your door, and get a head-start on the day from the comfort of your duvet.
Tailor-made functions are our speciality. A small gathering for a handful of guests, or a room-filling celebration for up to sixty, The function rooms are on-hand for a characterful backdrop, whatever the occasion. All are suffused with historic charm, & served direct from the kitchens of the Courtyard Brasserie.
Bustling and emphatically British, the Courtyard Brasserie is an homage to its locale. Its distinctive spirit is fuelled by fresh, local produce, with a regional à la carte menu renowned for its quality. As popular with locals as it is with guests, the Brasserie is something of a Colchester institution especially during oyster season, when its classic take on a local delicacy – world-famous Mersea Oysters, proves irresistible paired with a glass of champagne.
